Patient Participation Group

About the Patient Participation Group
Our PPG is made up of patients and practice staff who work together to understand and improve the services that are provided by the practice. The group meets quarterly in person, and has the following aims: ·
- To ensure that the patient voice is included in decisions that affect all the patients in the practice
- To provide a forum where both patients and staff can suggest positive ideas and voice concerns about the services provided
- To improve communications between staff and patients
- To help the practice develop services that reflect what patients need and want
- To offer practical support in the form of well-being activities or groups
- To provide a social forum for patients to meet with other PPG group members within their Primary Care Network
The meetings are held at the surgery between 5.30 and 7.00pm every three months. An agenda is prepared for each meeting, and minutes are taken for distribution to the group and practice staff. Patients in the group suggest items for discussion and frequently bring to the meetings their knowledge of health service changes or reviews that might affect the practice’s way of working with their staff and patients. Our recent achievement has been the writing and production of the patient handbook, prepared by small teams from the PPG, the GPs and the practice manager. The PPG is open to all patients who are interested in being part of the group. We particularly welcome patients from younger age groups and from the diverse ethnic and social backgrounds that reflect our local population. If you would like to join our PPG, please sign up below.
